  • What's Happening

Well, I've been busily knitting. I started on my Knotty or Knice Socks,(Interweave Knits, Fall 2008) with the Crystal Palace Panda Wool that I won earlier this summer, in the colorway Purple Violets. One sock is almost done.

I also made my 2nd kill in Olympic Yarn Smackdown, and going to start on my 3rd later today. My 2nd kill I used Berroco Comfort Sock in White. They turned out beautifully.white socks

And today I just finished Winter Twilight Mitts (Interweave Knits, Fall 2008, web-exclusive Pattern) for my manager who is leaving, as a going away present. They turned out beautifully and will definitely make myself a pair. I used leftover yarn in my stash, Knit Picks Palette in Blue Note Heather, and Crystal Palace Panda Wool in Red Cinnamon.Beckys mitt complete

Lastly, I finally finished my Tilted Duster, that seemed it took forever to finish. I've worn it a couple of times, and absolutely adore it. It will be used for next year's fair. Yay.

  • Loudonville Streetfair Results

best of show vest crossover scarf mine is the middle oneturtle Earlier this week, I dropped my stuff off at the Loudonville Streetfair, and just picked them up earlier this evening. For the first time to exhibit there, I managed to get 1st place with all 5 entries and my beautiful beaded vest got Best of Show. I've been  excited all night, especially when this is the 1st Best of Show I have ever received with any of my knitting projects, anywhere. I took my usual projects (vest, blanket, and shawl) , plus a few others.

The others are a knitted turtle, and a crossover scarf. The turtle is knitted with Berroco Comfort and Lion Cotton Ease. All the yarn was already in my stash, which is a huge plus, and will find a nice home one of these days (I may just keep it for myself, like a guardian of my yarn stash) lol.

The crossover scarf has been knitted a while ago, using Darice novelty yarn from the local Pat Catans, with fringe containing beads that match the colors in the scarf. It's a very fun scarf, and my boyfriend's cat loves playing with the fringe. Well, off to bed and dream of more knitting !!!

  • Lots of catching up to do ;0)

Hello. I can't believe it's been that long ago since I last posted. Well here's what's been happening in my knitting world. I had been knitting frantically for my county fair entries. I got all but one completed, but that's okay. Here's what I did get done though. I finally finished my Civil War Shawl/blanket. I had started it early May of this year and finished on September 2nd, a few hours before it had to be turned it. It is so beautiful, knitted from Red Heart Fiesta in White. It has jeweltone colors in the white, just stunning to admire. I'm thinking it's going to be a Christmas present to my grandma. She loved it when I showed her the work in progress. Oh yea, it got a 3rd place at the local county fair, and it's going to another fair at the end of the month.

In addtion, I also finished my Beaded Cable Floral Panel Vest. ( more info about it in an earlier post) It turned out absolutely gorgeous, out of the Knitpicks Palette yarn in Blue Note, and the beads were from Caravan Beads in a matte navy, and irridescent green color. It received a 1st place at the local county fair, and will be going to another fair at the end of the month. I haven't had a chance to wear it yet, but it sure has gotten lots of complements, from those who have seen it.

My shawl that I completed earlier, got a 2nd place at the local fair, and will be showed off again at another one later this month.

I knitted a pair of monkey socks  in Knitpicks Essential Sock Yarn in the colorway Turtle Multi. They turned out real adorable, and recieved 3rd place at the county fair, earlier this month. They were made to coincided with a TourDeSox contest, that Dr. Laura sponsored. I received Crystal Palace yarn in the Panda Wool in Violets, for participating. Beautiful yarn.

I also knitted another pair of socks, but this time they were for Olympic YarnSmackdown contest, which started during the olympics and still going strong. They were knitted in Knitpicks Pallete in the colorway Lipstick. The pattern used was called Swimming slowly, aka Turtle Tracks. I sent them to my target in WI, and she absolutely loves them. They were also used in the Olympic Sox Contest, also created by Dr. Laura. Those darling socks swam their way for a Gold Medal in the Happiness catagory, which won me 2 skeins of Crystal Palace Panda Soy yarn in the colorway velvet blue.

I'm now getting excited for the lastest contest by Dr. Laura to start on October 1st thru November 30th. It is a Carefree Holiday or Not KAL, for those of us who love knitting those special gifts to give on the holidays. Here's a link to the blog, to check it out and sign up. Just mention you heard about it from me (knittingchic).

  • Not Much Knitting

I have been slacking in the knitting department the last few days. Every once in awhile, it seems that a little break is needed. I did however, start knitting Annetrelac Socks (Interweave Knits Holiday Gifts, Holiday 2007). I'm still on the cuff, but they are going to be awesome socks when I'm done with them. I was browsing through my magazines the other night, and they were just calling my name to knit them up. I may use them as my fair entry, but I'm not too sure yet. This will be my 2nd pair of socks, once I complete them. They will be a nice little break from my Civil War Shawl, and Tilted Duster.

I also, received the information on my Summer Bookmark exchange partner. I'm very excited and my mind is flowing with lots of ideas, of what I can send her ;0)

  • Knitters Connection

Today was such an awesome day. I attended the Knitters Connection held at the Convention Center in Columbus. I took an all day class, learning to knit a Beaded Panel Vest, by Judy Pascale. Oh my gosh, is it a gorgeous pattern. I didn't get that far, but I can't wait till it's finished. I'm also can't wait when Judy mails me her NEW Cattail pattern. It's fabulous ;0) Close up of Border

I was also suprised with my goodie  bag was for being a member of the Knitter's Connection. The annual membership fee is only $10.00, and I got a bag packed with different kinds of yarn, and a couple of pattern books ( one is a Debbie Bliss). I just can't wait to dive in, and try the yummy yarns out. Actually I already started using the Berroco Comfort Sock, for my vest. Goodie Bag 2

In addition, I just finished my May bookmark. It was Entrelec, and I have to say it wasn't that bad learning. It's one of those things that looks complicated to learn, but very easy once you get the hang of it. I made 2, to try different patterned sock yarns. Plus, I think I'm going to make more for gifts. It's such a lovely pattern.
